In the late 1800's and early 1900's insurance agents began organizing in local and statewide associates to address the needs and issues for their members. Expansion of these organizations continued and several went nationwide.
Founded in 1931, PIA is a national trade association that represents member insurance agents and their employees who sell and service all types of insurance, particularly Home, Auto and Business. PIA members are generally Local Agents Serving Main Street America. The PIA is still operating to this date.
This PIA Mark is of heavy (over 2.5 lbs.) cast iron construction, is black in color with gold letters, measures 7.675" x 5.675" and was cast by John Wright. This is a very hard to find mark and not one usually seen for sale. It is in good shape with paint chipping and a little rust, which really adds to the vintage look and feel of this mark. It would make an excellent addition to a collection of fire marks, insurance memorabilia, or a great gift for an insurance agent/underwriter.
